Sunday 30th November

Today Nadine (my housemate) made us pancakes for lunch so we had longer for lunch than normal as the pancakes took quite a while to cook!

So this afternoon I didn’t have as long as normal to play with the ponies, but still had about three hours!! I started with playing with Blossom after a little warm up we headed over to the pedestal to work on getting her back feet closer or even on the pedestal. This went quite well and she is now really thinking about what I am asking her and trying really hard for me. Today she managed to have three feet on the pedestal at the same time, so I was really happy with this. We then moved on to play with the ball again and today instead of trying to stand on the ball she managed to kick it for a couple of strides.

We then moved on to playing with change of direction again, there was an improvement from yesterday but still lots of work needed. Next we played with the figure of eight pattern, in walk this is really good and Blossom appears to know the pattern really well but as soon as we move up into trot the problems start.. She either stops when I try to draw her towards me or tries to run past.. Eddy recommend taking her tp play near one of the walls and just concentrate on getting two eyes from her on the draw toward me as he thinks this could be the problem that she doesn’t want to give me two eyes or change eyes that’s why I have so much problems with this pattern and change of direction. This seemed to help and as soon as she gave me two eyes I would rest her. This also gave me a great opportunity to watch Eddy playing with a 6 month old foal, this was really good to watch and I think I learnt quite a lot from this.

Today I played more friendly games with Smarty with ropes around his bum and back legs, today he was much quicker to relax so that was good. I then just played lots of friendly all over with him with the CS and my hands and then just spent some time chilling with him. Eddy was riding a horse and playing with another, so this was really interesting to watch so I just sat with Smarty and watched this.

Hiya,

Loving the blog Leanne. You sound like you've settled in well even after only 3 days.

I've just come back from Sue's ET course....wow, loved it (knew I would) and am very eager to get out and ET our herd. I expect you will be using ET whilst you're out there to hone your new skills. Sue's a great teacher isn't she.

Hey,

Loving it here!! Isn't the ET course brilliant, I loved every minute of it I just can't wait to go to the level 2 course now! I haven't done any here yet as I don't want to give the ponies a day off yet. But hope to do some in the next few days, and maybe I will have the chance to do some of Eddy's horses..
